Tot to Kids' Pop-of-Color Unisex Slouchy Beanie

This super hip beanie was designed to look so good on either a boy or a girl (modeled here by my beautiful daughter). The vibrant color of the ribbing and the top of the hat really pops against the gray and white chevron stripes that make up the body of the hat. This hat fits most kids sized 2T-5T, or if your kid has a giant dome like my son, maybe even an 18 month old!

Materials Used:
Worsted Weight yarn in three colors, preferably gray and white or black and white, and the third being a bright pop of color like lime green. You don't really need all that much of the three colors either, possibly just scrap yarn!
Hook Size:H
Tapestry Needle

Stitches Used:
ch-chain st
sl st- slip stitch
sc-single crochet
hdc fp- half double crochet front post
hdc bp- half double crochet back post
dc- double crochet
v-stitch- (dc, ch1,dc) all in same stitch

Instructions

ch 60 and join to first ch with sl st careful not to twist

**Using Green**
R1- ch1, sc in every st, join to first st with sl st (60)
R2-R6 ch 1, *hdc fp, hdc bp* around, join to first st with sl st. (60)

**Using Gray**
R7- join yarn, ch4 and dc in same st you joined, skip 1 sts, *make v-stitch, skip 1 st* around, join to 3rd ch of ch 4 with sl st. (30 v-stitches)

Repeat R7 13 more times in the following pattern:
All odd numbered rows, use gray yarn

All even numbered rows, use white yarn

For R20 (The last row) use Green or what ever color you used for the ribbing.

End on a sl st and leave a long tail for closing the hat.

Using a tapestry needle, weave the yarn through every other stitch and pull the hat closed. You may not be able to close the hole all the way, in that case just stitch it shut.

Enjoy!!

Easter Bunny Amigurumi

I just posted my first, "for-purchase" pattern on both ravelry and etsy! Every now and then I will be posting some patterns for purchase so that I can fund my freebie designs! I love creating and sharing my patterns with everyone around the world, but I need lots of lovely lovely yarn to do so. By selling patterns occasionally, I hope to make some sweet-moolah so I can get some of that oh-so-sweet yarn and make more fun things to share with y'all.

These bunnies are super fun and easy to make. They make the perfect gift for a tot. I designed them for my children as Easter gifts. I am really excited with how they came out. They are so much fun!

Petite Cowl

A petite cowl for cool and casual days. It's no fuss, just throw it around your neck and go. It is small as the name describes and it is a great project if you have a bit of yarn left over that you want to create something out of. I made it using only one color, but this stitch lends itself to be made up of many colors! It is a great stash buster, you can use a different color for every row! Get creative with it. It is so small and crochets up quick but looks great! This cowl would also make a great last minute gift!

Stitches used:
ch-chain st
sc-single crochet
dc-double crochet
v-stitch- (dc, ch1, dc) in same stitch

Materials used:
scrap worsted weight yarn
hook size J
tapestry needle

Ok, let us get this lil petite cowl a-goin!

Ch 82 and join into a ring

R1- sc in every ch, join to 1st sc with sl st, careful not to twist.

R2- {ch4, dc} in same st *skip 2 sts, make v-stitch in next st* around (27 V-stitches) Join to the 3rd ch of ch 4 at beginning of row.

Repeat R2 5 more times

R8- ch 1, 2 sc in every v-stitch gap and 1 sc between every v-stitch (81 sc)

End with a sl st and weave in both (all) ends

Super quick and super simple! Hope you enjoy rocking the petite cowl!

Please send any pictures of your finished product so that I can post them up!

Boho Spring Daisy Cowl

This Pattern is a bit wordy so be sure to read the row's instructions before you start the row just to make sure the directions are clear.

I designed this lil daisy granny square cowl with spring weather in mind so it loosely drapes around the neck keeping the back of the neck warm and keeps the front of the neck exposed to the cool spring air. I made mine to look like blue skies and white daisies, but I can imagine it would look great with just one color too so if you only have one color handy, this project is still a-go! I hope you enjoy making this pretty little thing as much as I enjoyed creating it!

Supplies Needed

Three different colors of worsted weight yarn. (Or you can make it two or one color, that is entirely up to you!)
Color A- flower center (yellow)
Color B- petals (white)
Color C- border/main color (blue)

Hook size H

Tapestry Needle

Stitches Used

Sl st- slip stitch
ch- chain
sc- single crochet
dc- double crochet
hdc- half double crochet
long dc- a double crochet that you work into 3 rows below

Get your hook out and get this boho cowl going!

Flower Center

With Color A; ch 4 and join with sl st to make a ring.

R1- Make 8 sc into the ring; cut yarn and end with a sl st.

Flower Petals

With Color B; Join to flower center on any sc.

**tip** I'd recommend joining on the stitch next to where you ended so that you can tuck the yellow yarn under and minimize weaving in the ends later.

R1- Ch 3 and sc in same st. *in next st, (sc, ch2, sc) around. These will be petals, make sure you have exactly 8.

R2- Turn your work. *3hdc in each ch space, and sl st between petals* around. Cut yarn and end with sl st.

Right side of flower
Note: the flower's right side is the side in which the petals pop out. If you flip the flower over, you will see the top of the previous row folded over a bit. In the next part we will be single crocheting into the back loops of the stitches that have folded over. This will allow the flower to stand out of the background.

sc tbl as shown

Border

Using Color C (blue)

Join wherever you like and R1 of the Border should be as follows:

R1- For each petal, 1 sc tbl in each st for a total of 3sc tbl per petal.

In between each petal you will make a long dc into the center (yellow) part of the flower. There will be a total of 8 long dc.

**On this next row we will be turning the shape of your work from circle to square.**

Note: to make the square in-line with the flower, there will be two petals per side and the corner you will be making should be made on every-other long double crochet.

R2- Sl st over until you are 1 st before the long dc. Ch2, in next st you will make a corner of the square by (dc, ch 3, dc) in the same st. *In the next 7 sts make hdc, in next st make a corner (dc, ch3, dc).* repeat this for all sides of the square. On the last side, you will only have to make 6 hdc instead of 7. Join to the ch 2 with a sl st.

Each side of the square should have:
Corner; 7hdc; Corner

Once the square is complete, cut the yarn and end with a slip stitch.

Make a total of 8 squares and join them however you like (slip st, sc, sewing together with a tapestry needle). I joined them by single crocheting them together. Then once they were all joined in a ring, I make one row of single crochet on both the top and bottom of the cowl to finish it off. Weave in and trim all ends and you are all finished!

Slouchy Beanie 2.0 "The Primrose" Edition

This beanie is slightly more fanciful than the last beanie pattern I posted. The body of this beanie is made using an altered version of the primrose stitch making a pretty and lacy feeling texture. It is worked bottom up and after the ribbing is made, the body of the beanie is a repetition of 4 different rows. I hope you enjoy this relaxed fitting cap!

Stitches Used:

Sc- single crochet
hdc- half double crochet
ch- chain
sl st- slip stitch
hdcfp- half double crochet through front post
hdcbp- half double crochet through back post
V-stitch- hdc, ch 1, hdc

Let's begin!

RIBBING

Ch 65 and join

R1- sc in each ch around, join with a sl st careful not to twist (64)

R2- ch 1, *hdcfp, hdcbp* around and join with sl st to beg of row.

**Repeat R2 4 more times. This forms the ribbing so if you want your ribbing longer or shorter make more or less repeats of R2 respectively**

BODY

R1- ch3 and hdc in same st (makes first v-stitch), *skip next st, make v-stitch in next st*around and join to 2nd ch of ch3 at the beginning of row with sl st. (33 v-stitches)

R2- sl st over into first v-stitch and make 3 sc. *make 3 sc in each v-stitch* around. Sl st to beg of row to join.

R3- sl st over one, ch3 and sc in same st (makes a tiny v-stitch in the middle sc of 3sc group). *skip next 2 sts, in next st; sc, ch2, sc.* Make sure you are always working in the middle sc of 3sc group. Join with sl st to ch3.

R4- sl st over to first ch space, ch 2 and make 2 hdc in same ch space. In next ch space and in each ch space around, make 3hdc. At the end of the row, join with sl st to ch 2.

Repeat rows 1-4 3.5 more times (so ending on a R2). End with a sl st and leave a long long tail for weaving the hat closed.

You can make the hat longer and more slouchier if you like, but I'd recommend ending on a R2 to make stitching it up easier.

FINISHING

Using a tapestry needle, weave through every other back loop of the last row. Pull taunt and secure the hole closed with some stitches around the top. Snip off the long tail and you're all finished!
